Discovery time

Something different this morning, the children were able to use screwdrivers to begin dismantling an old fax machine.  This activity kept children on-task and completely engaged for at least half an hour.  There  was much excitement as pieces were pulled apart and screws came out!  Children were co-operative and there were no disagreements as different children lead the activity and others joined. Nick was the first to undo some screws and Oliver discovered the screwdrivers acted as magnets, holding up some screws he had picked up.  This was a fun activity which enabled the children to problem-solve, share and develop oral language skills.
