Science Experiment

Today we did a B science experiment...Balloons in a bottle!
The balloons would not inflate inside the bottle as there was already too much air in there.
As soon as we made a small hole in the bottle with a pin, it allowed the air to escape and blow the balloons up!
Kaiza told us that the new air, was replacing the old air!  Well done Kaiza!

Numeracy Practice

Aidyn has worked really hard on his maths at home, today he counted out 22 objects for me, awesome work Aidyn!

'A' is for 'Amazing Science!'

Rooms 5 and 6 did an amazing science experiment!
We used:
A bottle
A balloon
Baking soda
A funnel
White vinegar

We poured some white vinegar into the bottle.
Next we put some baking soda into the balloon using a funnel.
We carefully stretched the balloon over the neck of the bottle.
Then we stood the balloon up so that the baking soda dropped into the vinegar below!
This caused carbon dioxide to form and the balloon inflated!
The children thought this was 'Amazing!'

High frequency words

We wrote our words a, I, at and am on our apples.  Kai did a fantastic job of his apples!

Fractions

For our Maths hotspots, we have been discussing fractions - halves and quarters. Children have been really good at recognising how to share things between two people so that each get 1/2. We also talked about 1/4 and how this is when we share things equally between four people. This is a good concept to reinforce at home.
