Library visit

Today we visited the school library.  We will go each Wednesday.  The children are allowed to choose one book each and have it returned by the following Wednesday.

Using objects to practise our counting

There are a variety of things we can use to practise counting one to one.

At home we can use blocks, spoons, books etc etc.

Here, Ben is demonstrating counting using a packet of coloured stones I got at the $2 shop.

Our first butterfly

This morning we had our first monarch butterfly hatch!

It was very exciting.

We watched the cocoon split open and the butterfly working its way out.

Soon the fluid was pumping through it's wings to expand them.

We took it outside and put it on a tree.

Later we saw it flying away over the school!

Pre-school visitor

This is Ethan, he is transitioning to school.  Ethan enjoyed completing some puzzles on his last visit.

Drop, cover, hold

We practised this today after a few children discussed the earthquakes in Christchurch.  Children know what to do if we have an earthquake and will hopefully put this into practice should the need arise.

Today we also had a fire drill and lined up on the field after evacuating the class quickly.  Well done Room 6.

H.E.A.R.T. Week 3
