Practising our High Frequency Words

It is important we learn to read and write high frequency words to assist in all our literacy tasks.

Caterpillar Observations

In Room 6, we have been learning about the life cycle of Monarch Caterpillars.  We have a cocoon to observe in the classroom and we are looking for changes.  It is important that we don't touch so we don't disturb the cocoon.

5 Little Ducks

Did your child bring home their Duck headband today?  We made them as part of our D for Duck literacy activity.  We sang the song, 5 Little Ducks went out one day....  Many children wore them most of the day, here we are having our fruit while wearing them.

Fitness on a Wet Day

You may wonder what we are doing in these photos...

...it was wet during our fitness time so we did our fitness inside.  By plugging the iPad into the TV screen, we can see what is on the iPad.  We then used an App called 'Subway Surfer'.  This involves a character running, jumping and dodging.  As we watched this, we needed to follow the actions resulting in us running, jumping, moving side-to-side and sliding down.  This was a fun way to do fitness and Devin had a turn using the App on the iPad for us to follow.

High Frequency Words

Congratulations Lachie!  You know all of the high frequency words on the first list!  Amazing work!

25 nights of reading

Congratulations Jack on achieving 25 nights of reading homework.  Keep up this great work!

Technology

Yesterday we plugged the iPad into the TV.  We could see ourselves on the screen straight away.  We made some silly faces and then watched ourselves!

Cocoon!

When I came to school at 8.30pm last night, our caterpillar had already turned itself into a cocoon.  Now we just have to wait for the next stage when the butterfly hatches!

Subway

Last week, Ayla was lucky enough to win the weekly draw for a free subway after receiving a Principal's Award at assembly.  Congratulations Ayla!

D is for DINOSAUR!

We are learning the letter D.  Today we discovered some new dinosaur species!

Reading logs

Please continue to fill out the reading logs each day.  After multiples of 25 nights, children get a small certificate!

Our Caterpillar

Look what's happened to our caterpillar!  When I came to school this morning, it had already gone into the 'Hook' position.  This means it's beginning to change.
