Counting to 20

This week we have been using the number lines to practise counting to 20.  We put our finger under each number to read it.
Next week, we will bring home our own number line so we can practise at home with our family.

The number line also helps us find the number 'before' or 'after' a given number.

Counting to 100

This afternoon Harrison showed us how he could point to each number and count to 100.  This is something he had been working hard on at home.  Fantastic work Harrison!  Can anyone else count to 100 like this?

Practising our reading

After play we read from browsing boxes.  We practise the reading skills that we are learning such as pointing to each word and looking for cues to help us.  Reading left to right and turning pages is also an important skill for early readers.

Jesse shares his stickers

This afternoon before we went home, Jesse gave us all an Angry Bird sticker each.  This was very kind Jesse!  You showed us you were great at sharing!  Room 6 children - can you tell us some other things we can share when we are at school?

Kids can cook

This morning we went to the hall to see a cooking demonstration by Chris Fortune.  He talked to us about some ways we could eat healthy food and trying foods we hadn't had before.  He cooked us some French crepes with apple and silverbeet in them.  We all tried them and had to give thumbs up or down depending on whether we liked them or not.  This was a great show which we all enjoyed.  Ask your child more about it and if he/she liked the crepes!

We are busy handwriters!

Maths

We made a graph showing the ways we get to school.

We found that one person came by bus.
Two people walked to school.
Six people came in the car.
Two people used their scooter to get to school.
