Irene van Dyk

A special assembly was held this afternoon to welcome Irene van Dyk to our school.  The Senior Kapa Haka gave a stunning performance to begin the assembly.

Irene talked to us about netball and some of the experiences she has had.  One of her main messages was "Don't give up" and she told us how she didn't make a rep squad until she was 18, hard to imagine!

My Emma was very lucky to get an autograph and a hug...

...and then our Junior Kapa Haka performed.

We were very lucky to have Irene visit us, thanks to Jenny and the Buller Netball Board.

Amazing Christmas Art

Look at the pictures Room 14 made using their footprints and handprints!

Talent Quest

This afternoon, we watched the grand final of the talent quest.
We watched some amazing acts ...

...and the judges were spectacular too!

The winners were announced...congratulations to the runners up, Sophie and Killarnee, and the winners...Keely and Charli.  You all did a stunning job, congratulations!

Tr is for TRUCK!

Mr Avery (Jed from Room 7/8's Dad) brought his Kenworth Low Bed Truck to show Room 7 and 8, and we were invited!

We all had a turn to climb inside for a look.  The children were fascinated seeing the bed in the back!

We asked some questions and found out Mr Avery had carried lots of thing on the back of his truck.  When he left, he honked his horn and it was really loud!

Thank you very much Mr Avery!  It was great seeing your truck up close, especially after we have been learning about transport!

Sam's special news

Sam showed us his rocks he brought from home.  They were big and heavy and one had shiny bits on it!

Thanks for sharing Sam!

Special guests

This afternoon, Rooms 5 and 6 had two very special guests, Macauley and Clayton from Room 14.  They brought their cornets to play for us.  Both Mac and Clayton have been learning for only 6 months and are already very talented musicians.  They are also in the final of the talent quest on Friday!

They played some tunes for us and we were mesmerised!

We were shown how they hold their cornets and the special cases they are kept in.

Thank you very much for coming and playing for us Macauley and Clayton. We can't wait to see how you progress with your music in future years! (And good luck in the talent quest!)
