Surprise Author Visit
Room 6 was privileged to have Dawn McMillan come to our class and read some of her stories. 'Granny' Dawn is a very well known New Zealand author, we have read some of her junior readers and know her picture books! She is Gran to Max and James at our school, and former pupil, Ellie, so we were lucky to meet her during her visit.

Granny Dawn read us 'Doctor Grundy's Undies', a hilarious story which we thoroughly enjoyed. Believe it or not, Dawn had found a pair of Doctor Grundy's Undies outside, they must have blown there in the wind...some of us got to try them on!

We listened really well while she read!
We also listened to 'I Need a New Bum', a story that made us laugh soooooo hard!
Thank you for coming to our class Granny Dawn, it was a real honour to meet you and we look forward to reading some more of your books!

The Big Slurp!
Today was 'International Milk in Schools Day.'
To celebrate, our school held 'The Big Slurp' this afternoon.
This was our way of thanking Fonterra who provide all Westport South School children with a 200ml box of milk each day as part of the Milk in Schools programme.
We coloured in cow masks to wear while we drank our milk.
After this, we had a milk box folding competition. Each class found the 'fastest folder' then we had a grand final...
Our winner was the youngest one in the line...congratulations to Ayla from Room 7/8!
